BC HERN Network

BC HERN is based on ‘Response Zones’, the size and location of which are dependent on area population and institutional density. The membership of the network is organized by these zones.

Network members will work within and across zones to lend support in times of need – this support might be in person or by phone depending on the situation and ability of the volunteer member. The bigger the BC HERN membership grows the stronger the network will become and the better the outcomes will be for all arts and culture institutions in the province following a disaster.

Deployment of resources to each of the zones is supported through a variety of means. Salvage training and webinars provide collections salvage expertise across the province, while a communication tree links resources with needs. Emergency kits are also deployed for access by the more remote communities.
