Response Zone Leads

The Zone Lead is the first point of contact for a cultural institution experiencing an emergency with their collections. The Zone Lead will initiate the call tree of trained responders within the zone and provide guidance on the next steps for the impacted institution.

The Zone Lead primary responsibilities are to:

  • Serve as the first point of contact to other zone members in the event of an emergency, meaning this person is at the top of the call tree.
  • Maintain the call tree for the zone.
  • Engage with zone recruitment with the assistance of the Steering Group.
  • Some Zone Leads host BC HERN Emergency Kits (location dependant).
  • Participate in bi-monthly Zone Lead meetings.

Requirements for the role:

  • BC HERN salvage training.
  • 1-2 year volunteer commitment, renewable if desired.
  • Interest in helping others.
