For administrative purposes, BC has been divided into ‘Response Zones’, the size and location of which are dependent on area population, major transportation routes and institutional density. Network members will work within and across zones to lend support in times of need. This support might be in person or by phone depending on the situation and availability of the volunteer members to assist.
The bigger the HERN membership grows the stronger the network will become and the better the salvage outcomes will be for all arts and culture institutions following a disaster.
A Zone Lead Is:
- Trained by the HERN in emergency response and salvage
- Ready to make a 1 to 2 year volunteer commitment, renewable if desired
- Interested in helping others
Zone Lead Responsibilities:
- Be the first point of contact to other zone members in the event of an emergency.
- Maintain the call-out list for the zone.
- Engage with zone recruitment with the assistance of the Steering Group.
- Some Zone Leads host HERN Emergency Kits (location dependant).
- Participate in regular Zone Lead meetings.
